Saturday 2nd March

One brave crew ventured out in the bitter cold and icy rain to fight against the current in light 7kt winds.
Despite this, their spirits weren’t dampened and enjoyed pulling the Race Officer’s leg by commenting on who was this ‘Mark’ fella he kept mentioning at the end of each countdown.
A radio check at the furthest point in the course revealed some crackling which was believed to be one of the crew chomping down on packet of crisps, to which the Race Officer advised rationing as they we’re about to punch tide in light winds and might succumb to malnutrition before reaching the finishing line.
As it happens they all came back with just about enough energy to devour biscuits in the clubhouse and despite best efforts of the Race Officer, he couldn’t find fault to disqualify them, so congratulations to Cutty Wren for the win!

Sunday 3rd March

Eight brave souls faced beautiful crisp sunshine, a vicious 1-3kt south-westerly wind and a particularly blue sea to battle for the win this morning and hope of knocking Mirage from pole position. Sadly Spooky II had rudder trouble from the mooring and Elise seemed to think the course was 10ft from the mooring and back!
We studied the RYA rules from cover to cover to try and find a means to disqualify Mr Caiger after he shot across the start line like a boat possessed and took a comfortable lead rigging ‘The Tangerine Dream’ spinnaker. Unfortunately the only thing we could think of was to disqualify him for showing off which isn’t in the spirit of sportsmanship. So we set up a kangaroo court ready for his return to the clubhouse.
At one point it looked Like Lasten had found the line of best wind to snatch the win but alas the sneaky Mr Caiger used some voodoo to leave the competition windless and crept across the line less that a minute before Lasten.
Due to this very unfair use of the dark arts it left several of the boats in a position where they were unable to complete the course and sadly several did not finish.
It all ended very amicably as Mr Caiger bribed everyone back at the clubhouse with birthday cake and a serenade.
