A lovely morning of light offshore 3kt winds and dry skies made for a pleasant sail around the bay. Unfortunately, the race officer decided to take out his Hobie 16 for the first time of the year and it must have been age, but he couldn’t for the life of him remember how to rig it up correctly and missed several race calls and even had to start the race 1 minute late – you can’t get the staff. To add insult to injury, he and his crew were 20 minutes late to the start line by which time the rest of the pack was well on its way to Waverider. The racers are a good bunch and very forgiving and even recorded their own times crossing the line. 🙂

Another nice day that started with promising winds of 6kts and a dry sky, there was even a bit of sunshine. The race started in a staggered manner so the slower boats could get a head start and the faster boats catch up around the midpoint of the race. Hunrosa radioed in from the marina so was sadly never going to get out and across the finish line in time and Lottie was playing with her engine in the river.
Another investigation should be undertaken as the wind dropped so dramatically that all boats bar one had to retire. Oddly enough the only boat to cross the line was Mirage, who, we think used the same witchcraft as the previous race in stealing the wind from its competitors!
